“Ready for Spring” Cross Training Workout

Good morning guys!

The Winter Eating Challenge is still going strong.  For dinner last night we made some delicious sausage lettuce wraps with sautéed peppers and onions, topped with sliced avocado and Greek Yogurt (in lieu of sour cream).

I have to be honest though, I’ve never craved an apple as much as I have this week.  I am looking forward to be able to snag a honeycrisp whenever I want to again! Two days to go and those apples are all mine, I’m buying out the Whole Foods fruit section, sorry neighbors.

“Ready for Spring” Cross Training Workout

Recently, my favorite way to workout has been switching between cardio and strength work. I love the intensity and the adrenaline rush of constantly moving around and switching it up.  If you’re anything like me, you start hoping for springtime sometime, oh around the second week of January.  Holiday excitement dwindles, and the spring seems so far away.  (Don’t get me wrong, I’m not wishing my life away, I’m just wishing I lived in Southern California.)

Fear not, ladies and gentlemen, the warm weather isn’t that far off….and before you know it, it will be tank top and shorts (read: bathing suit) weather.  In the meantime, let’s focus on the present, and doing what we can to stay healthy and fit. Also, working out is a cheaper warmth generating option than purchasing a flight to San Diego.

Annnyway, here’s a workout to try on the running path (no equipment needed for the strength moves!), at the gym, or on the treadmill at home. I promise it’s NOT that weird to switch on and off the treadmill. Trust me on this. In fact, other people will probably wonder where you got that kickass workout idea from. ;-)

Congrats on the new gig! Love the new workout. I’m obsessed with your blog. I think my favorite part of this post is one simple phrase- “let’s focus on the present.” It’s hard to do when you’re on a fitness journey or have a specific end goal in mind, but I think it’s a really important message, because it’s constantly focusing on the present that will get you there. That’s been a big challenge for me but maybe this is my new mantra for those days when the goal still seems so far. Thanks AM!
